“The concept for SideShow originally sprang from Florida’s historical connection as the wintering grounds for circus, carnie and sideshow folks since the 1930s,” said Catherine Bergmann, the curator of the exhibit. “We started looking at vintage sideshow banners from that era but became intrigued with the number of contemporary artists whose works draw obvious inspiration from the genre.
Featured SideShow artists include Lori Ballard, Bryan Cunningham, Amy ‘Banner Queen’ Johnquest, Daniel Morgan, Chris Rush, Lynn and John Whipple and Kreg Yingst.
